Explorer Series 2023
The first three months are especially important for freshmen to learn the ropes and orient to SUSS culture. As part of our continuing efforts to support freshmen during their onboarding period, we have designed the 'Explorer Series' that will be running from 14 January to 31 March 2023.
The series consists of a variety of events, workshops and seminars that will provide freshmen with opportunities to network with peers and acquire essential skills to thrive as a SUSS student.
Explorer Series registrations will start on 19 December 2022. To register, please click on the respective registration links below.

14 Jan 2023 Saturday | 2.30pm - 4.30pm | Design your Life Workshop This workshop is specially designed for new students embarking on a new journey at SUSS. Using Design your Life template, students will learn to reframe and learns new ways of building way forward, step-by-positive-step,
to completing their learning journey and beyond at the University.
This workshop is available for walk-in registrations. Head to Block C, C.8.08 at 2pm for registration. Hope to see you there! |
16 Jan 2023 Monday | 12.30pm - 1.30pm | Learn to Study Effectively with eTextbook It's the start of a semester and there are lots of new things to learn and remember. Sometimes it can be rather overwhelming when you are preparing for a test or exam and your mind is a complete blank.

18 Jan 2023 Wednesday | 7.30pm - 8.30pm | Effective Reading Skills for University The transition to university requires students to be effective in managing time, making effective notes and reading. Reading is a central approach in learning. It is important to read independently and effectively to learn significant portions of a course of study. Unfortunately, many students read passively, failing to build comprehension or goal for reading.
Active reading is a central approach to learning and it requires a set of skills and discipline. This workshop will introduce students to active reading strategies to make reading more productive and meaningful.

18 Jan 2023 Wednesday | 7.00pm - 8.00pm | Presentation Essentials - Content, Visual & Delivery Presentations are commonly used in many organizations to communicate ideas and solutions as well as facilitate decision-making. Knowing how to ‘show-and-tell’ or let your audience ‘see’ what you are saying becomes one of the essential skills in the 21st century. |
19 Jan 2023 Thursday | 7.00pm - 8.30pm | Doing Case Analysis in School of Business This seminar provides an introduction to the case study analysis approach that will be used in many of our School of Business courses. The seminar is geared more towards giving freshmen (incoming new students) a good appreciation on how case analysis can enrich their learning experiences in SUSS, although existing students who like to know more about case analysis are also welcome to attend. |
27 Jan 2023 Friday | 11.00am - 2.00pm | Fireside Chat: Gerontology Join us in this FIRST immersive experience of Meta-verse with CNY Chingay Parade happening on 27 Jan 2023. SUSS teams will be providing ten sets of Oculus Quest 2 VR Headset with 360 contents for you to discover the world of collaboration and imagination in learning reminiscence arts and simple exercises. Hear how the latest technology create new possibilities for improving the learning pedagogies of wellbeing in the health and care sectors. Catch the exciting solutions from Lexly Health as they show how their App uses AI motion tracking technology to treat musculoskeletal pain. Microtube will also demonstrate their wearables sensors for gaming, virtual reality and more! |
28 Jan 2023 Saturday | 11.00am - 12.00pm | Introducing Python - A Computing Language and Mathematical Tool (SST) If you are exposed to computer programming used in data analysis and engineering applications, you must have heard about the programming language Python. Many students are not aware of the full power of Python, or of its various built-in libraries. The workshop will give an overview of what Python can do! Python’s main purpose is to help users perform data analysis and mathematical modelling. |
28 Jan 2023 Saturday | 1.00pm - 2.00pm | Innovating for Age Well New technology can be introduced the health and care sectors for improvements in social engagement and productivity in the community. We are inviting change makers, social change innovators and domain experts from overseas to share their expertise under the SUSS-NUNCHI MARINE AGE WELL PROGRAMME. Singapore can jumpstart the quick link-up with corporates and service providers to trial for implementation of the new products and services. One example is the robots, AI and Metaverse collaborating tools which data and evidence from the research study could influence policy makers and government agencies. |
