President's Welcome Message

Director's Welcome Message

Welcome to SUSS.

Congratulations on securing a place with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)!

It's great that you have chosen SUSS (to be referred to as S-U-S-S instead of "suss") to pursue your higher education. As an SUSS freshman, Orientation is an important rite-of-passage to university life. It is often where you meet new friends and forge lifetime friendships.

With the relaxation of the Safe Management Measures (SMM), we will be having some face-to face activities for you to visit the campus and meet faculty and support staff as well as make new friends. Some Schools have opted to conduct the Dean and Head of Programme (HoP) briefings online but you can still come to campus to check out the many student activities that you can participate in as an SUSS student.

Whether the session is conducted in person or online, we urge all freshmen to attend orientation as you will receive important information on the School's vision, the support available and expectations of students. Your HoP will share the study roadmap for your programme and cover some important pointers for a smoother learning journey. There will also be briefings and demo-sessions on how to navigate important applications and portals that impact your learning. Examples include the online learning management system, Canvas - for discussions and assignments submission and Student Portal - for access to student information; and tips on making the best use of the Digital Library's e-resources. All these will form part of your tool kit for a smoother learning journey ahead.

Your seniors will also be available to welcome, chat with you and answer queries that you may have about your studies and student life at SUSS. Tap on their experience. Look out for our shout-outs and join our chat groups to meet new friends.

Orientation July 2022 will be special as roll out a hybrid format of engagement with both online and face-to-face segments. Let's all adapt and make the best of the situation, continue to be vigilant and exercise social responsibility to keep our community safe as we interact with one another.

SUSS is committed to help you make your mark on progress, right from the start of your learning journey. Welcome aboard.

Warmest regards,
Evelyn Chong
